Phoenix Salon — Website Design & Development

Phoenix Hair & Beauty is an award-winning salon in Alsager, Cheshire, run by six stylists and therapists covering everything from Wella master colour to bridal hair, aesthetics and massage. When Heidi, the owner, came to me, the salon had no website at all — just a Facebook page and an Instagram account. That’s a real gap for a business with years of genuine reputation behind it: potential clients searching Google would find nothing to click on, no way to browse services or pricing, and no reason to trust the salon beyond word of mouth.

The brief was to design and build a website from scratch: something warm and visual enough to match the feel of actually walking into the salon, but structured clearly enough that a first-time visitor could find a service, see real examples of the work, and get in touch without any friction. Since there was no existing site to reference, I started by mapping out the salon’s full range from the ground up — six distinct service departments that had never had a proper home anywhere but Instagram grids and Facebook albums.

For the design itself, I built a visual language directly from the salon’s own brand — a soft blush-and-pink palette, a rounded logo mark echoing the salon’s silhouette-and-flower icon, and a recurring wave motif used throughout to keep every section transition feeling soft rather than boxy. Real photography did almost all of the heavy lifting: years of the team’s own colour work, salon interior shots, and portraits of each stylist — content that had only ever lived on social media — finally got a permanent, searchable home.

On the development side, I built the site in WordPress so Heidi’s team could update prices, add gallery photos and publish blog posts themselves, the same way they were already used to posting on Instagram, just now on a platform they actually own. I paid close attention to page speed and mobile responsiveness throughout and built in on-page SEO fundamentals from day one — clean structure, proper headings, local search signals — since organic search was a channel the salon had never had access to before.

The result is the salon’s first real presence outside of social media: six clearly browsable service areas, a proper portfolio of the team’s colour work, transparent pricing, and a contact page that answers the practical questions before they’re even asked — all searchable on Google for the first time. You can see it live at phoenixsalon.uk.
