Cross Rhythms

Creative Design · Advertising · Print · Social Media Content

For Cross Rhythms, a community radio and media organisation based in Stoke-on-Trent, I worked across a wide range of graphic design, advertising and visual communication projects, supporting the organisation across both print and digital channels.

The work included magazine advertisements, stationery, business cards, leaflets, posters, Christmas cards, social media banners and visual content for social platforms.

Working across such a varied range of formats required more than adapting one design to different sizes. Each piece had a different purpose and audience while still needing to feel recognisably part of the Cross Rhythms visual identity.

Advertising Across Print Media

An important part of the work was designing recurring magazine advertisements promoting Cross Rhythms and its activities.

Advertisements were produced for external publications including Liberti and Sorted, requiring designs that could attract attention within an editorial environment while communicating the organisation’s message clearly and maintaining its established identity.

Working on recurring advertising also meant finding ways to keep the creative approach fresh from one campaign to another without losing brand recognition and visual consistency.

Print & Promotional Design

The wider print work covered both everyday organisational materials and public-facing communications.

I designed business cards, stationery, leaflets, promotional posters and seasonal materials such as Christmas cards, adapting the visual language according to the purpose of each piece.

For information-heavy materials such as leaflets, the focus was on typographic hierarchy, readability and clear communication. Promotional pieces allowed more room for strong imagery, headlines and creative composition designed to capture attention.

Social Media & Visual Content

My work also extended into social media design, including banners, promotional graphics and visual content created for ongoing online communication.

Some content used a more informal and engaging approach, including memes and topical visual posts, allowing the organisation to communicate in a more immediate and relatable way with its online audience.

This required balancing the established brand with the faster and more conversational nature of social media content, where visuals need to communicate quickly and encourage interaction.

One Brand Across Different Channels

One of the most valuable parts of this project was working with the same organisation across many different communication channels.

From a printed business card or magazine advertisement to a poster or social media post, the format and message could change significantly. The challenge was to adapt the creative approach while maintaining enough visual consistency for the audience to recognise the organisation.

It was an opportunity to combine graphic design, advertising, editorial design, print production and digital content creation within a real and active media environment.
